Your Ecosystem Is Not Neutral

In The Method, I describe the concept of the personal ecosystem.

What do you describe as your ecosystem? Do you think it is only where you live? Actually, it is everything that surrounds and influences you. We start with the people you interact with, but also the conversations you participate in. The work environments you choose and the expectations you accept. The habits you repeat and the rhythm of your days. Just like in nature, an ecosystem either supports life or weakens it.

What we often forget is this: You may have clarity about your purpose. You may know your values. You may even have a strategy. But if your ecosystem contradicts them, misalignment slowly begins, and the result is that your energy decreases. You can’t feel your flow, and therefore decisions feel heavier.

Finally, and very importantly, the body starts sending signals. Please note this not as coincidence, but as structural. In the book, I explain that alignment must be reflected both externally and internally.

Your ecosystem must:

  • respect your values
  • support your UHQ (Unique Human Qualities)
  • allow your contribution to be expressed
  • create conditions where flow is possible

An unhealthy ecosystem does not always look dramatic. Sometimes it simply feels like constant resistance, and resistance, when prolonged, becomes exhaustion. This is why auditing your ecosystem is essential.

Not to control everything, but how can you build an aligned life inside a misaligned ecosystem? Is this possible?

Therefore, how about starting to observe objectively:

a) Where do I feel supported? b) Where do I feel drained? c) Which relationships expand me? d) Which environments shrink me? e) Where am I adapting too much?

And perhaps this is where reflection begins: If your ecosystem were a living environment, would it nourish you or slowly deplete you?
